Let’s look at what you can eat if
you work in CBD area.
1. Nasi
Lemak (May Hua Food Court)
Lunch time crowd
This nasi lemak store is in May Hua Food Court and it always jam-packed
with people at lunch time and it was rather difficult to find seats so we decided
to take away instead.
Nasi Lemak & Bee Hoon (Takeaway)
The nasi lemak that they offered (especially in the CBD area)
is extremely affordable and decent! They offer a variety of fried food, bee
hoon, mee siam and black noodle. If you are a spicy lover, be sure to ask for
extra chilli! The coconut rice is extremely fragrant and is the star of the
show.

2. Arcade Fish Soup (Hup Lee Cafeteria)
Hup Lee Cafeteria Fish Soup is one of the best in our opinion. The queue
for this fish soup is crowded regardless of the timing so you may want to
consider ordering takeaways (at no additional cost!)
Arcade Fish Soup Menu
Fried Fish Soup with beancurd and rice
The fish soup comes with Sichuan
vegetable, egg tofu, with the choice of fried or sliced fish, thick bee hoon or
rice. You can choose to have milky or clear soup base. It is still within the
affordable price range in CBD area. The main selling point is the thickness of
the soup base. Unlike most fish soup stall that gives silky tofu, this stall
adds egg tofu instead. On top of that, they also add chopped fried garlic.
These greatly enhances the taste! The chilli sauce here is THE BOMB.

3. Stingray (Macpherson Barbecue Seafood)
Do not be mislead by the shop
name – Macpherson Barbecue Seafood is not located at Macpherson but at Clarke
Quay. The selling point of this shop is the affordable zi char (stir and
fry) menu. Their signature dish is the stingray and fried egg with rice set. If you work nearby and want to drop by for
lunch, it gets crowded so come earlier or later to avoid the lunch crowd.
If you work near CBD area and you are lazy
to travel down to the shop, then grab 4 more buddies and they will deliver it
to your office for free(transport charges may apply to certain destination) The set of stingray plus egg and rice only cost $6.30 each
set. If you love spicy, remember to ask for extra chilli! If you have a bigger
budget, you can always add sotong, pork chop, fried fish to satisfy that
craving of yours.
