Top 3 Prata

I asked the prata man if he was making murtabak…

What is the one dish you can eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even supper? Pratas.

Roti Prata is a well-known delicacy loved by all Singaporeans. Some people have a misconception that all pratas taste the same, but this post will convince you that not all pratas are made equal. Below are 3 of our favourite prata places that will bound to make you fall deeper in love with pratas.

1. Sin Ming Roti Prata

Sin Ming's Roti Prata looks plain but don't let it deceive you, their famous coin prata is crispy, fragrant, and tasty on its own even without dipping it into curry. It is hands down one of the best prata in Singapore and everyone on the table agreed. Their chicken curry is distinctive and flavourful, a perfect complement to the prata.

Opening hours: 7am - 6.30pm (Be sure to go there early if you want to have it for dinner!)

Address: #01-51 Jin Fa Kopitiam, 24 Sin Ming Road, 570024
Nearest station: Marymount (Requires a 15 mins walk but it'll be worth it)

2. Sakunthala's Restaurant

Sakunthala is located at the heart of Little India, guaranteed to deliver an authentic Indian dining experience with Indian music videos blasting on television screens and the rich smell of curry permeating through the air. Their prata is well-balanced, with just the right amount of oil, crispiness, and layers. The star of the dish however, is the fish curry. The fish curry is flavourful and filled with spices, easily making it one of the best curry I've ever tasted. Be sure to ask for more of their fish curry when you're here!

We also tried other dishes like their Naan, Nasi Briyani, and Butter Chicken (pictured below) which are pretty decent although prices are a little steep.

Opening hours: 9.30am - 11pm daily
Address151 Dunlop Street Singapore 209466 (They have other 3 outlets too)
Nearest station: Little India / Farrer Park

3. SriSun Express

Ever since its opening in 2004, SriSun gained popularity and expanded quickly with over 13 outlets across Singapore. Now, SriSun has became a household name. SriSun has one of the more crispy pratas among the three restaurants and unlike others, their prata is slightly charred. However, I find the burnt taste to be slightly overwhelming so this may not suit everyone's taste buds. Their fish curry is pretty decent too, although Sakunthala's fish curry is more flavourful.

Opening hours: 24 hours so head to your nearest Srisun now!
